When shallow water fishing I have heard many people complain about the precision and patience it can take to get some fish. Sometimes you can do everything right and you still might not get a bite. There could be mud clouding the water and keeping them from spotting your lure or they happen to be looking in the wrong direction. Particularly in the case of snook, tarpon, trout and stripers a fast moving boat is easier for them to detect, especially with a trolling motor noise alarming them.
That is why Rich and I make sure our MotorGuide trolling motor is quiet and treads slowly so we can sneak up on them. We will cover the water slowly and stealthily and anchor down with our twin Power Poles once we are in casting range.
